The Robert E. McDole Papers consist ofmaterials created or assembled by McDole during his undergraduate studentyears at Oregon State College, as a graduate student in soil science atthe University of Idaho, and in the course of his work as a soil scientistfor the Bureau of Indian Affairs and the University of Idaho. McDoleearned a BS in soils from Oregon State College in 1952 and MS and Ph.D.degrees from the University of Idaho in 1968 and 1969.

The Campus Club was established as a men's cooperative residence at Oregon State College in 1940; the cooperative was active through spring of 1966. John Garman was born in Urbana, Illinois, in 1896. When he was two, his family moved to Portland. After graduating from Benson Polytechnic High School in 1916, Garman enrolled at Oregon Agricultural College (OAC). After his first year, he entered the Army and served as an instructor.
